Business Process Management (BPM 101)
Principles, Concepts and Benefit of Process-Centric Organization

BPM is the science and art of managing process assets.  This workshop provides an introduction to the discipline of Business Process Management and its value proposition to an organization in the competitive marketplace.  The class provides attendees with an orientation on BPM, both at the strategic and operational level.  It also provides the basic building block of knowledge for a process-centric organization.  The orientation includes the relationship of BPM to other professional disciplines such as Organizational Development (OD) and Information Technology (IT).

Process Analysis, Improvement & Design
Methods, Tools and Techniques for Optimizing Performance

All work in the business is done through the execution of Business Processes; which are enabled by people.  This workshop allows people to learn skills for analyzing and renewing business processes to achieve desired performance through hands-on activities.  Using a case study, this methodical approach takes process practitioners, performers and managers through the logical steps of renewing a business process, which include: creating the process vision through project scoping, current state analysis and future state feasibility. Knowledge is transferred to the participants for process mapping techniques, root cause analysis, ideation methods and developing a business case for change. State-of-the-industry process standards and mapping notations are introduced during the workshop as well.  In addition to receiving a course workbook, each participant receives ready-to-use templates, which enable immediate use and productivity when participants return to work.

Optimizing Work Flows
“Mapping the Way Work Gets Done”

While the functional areas may be structured “vertically”, the work gets done “horizontally” flowing across numerous functional areas to deliver products and services. This workshop is designed to provide training in information gathering and mapping the work flows using the “swim lane” technique.  Skills are transferred in: how to eliminate non-value-added activities; how to establish accountabilities using RACI method--among diverse functional areas and how to identify critical Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) for optimal workflows. State-of-the-industry mapping notations are introduced during the course as well.

Delivering Enhanced Performance by Achieving Work Efficiency and Effectiveness

The outcome of any piece of work is measured by its efficiency and effectiveness.  This interactive workshop is designed for employees working in the business support, administrative support or factory floor environments.  It teaches skills for conducting their daily work activities with efficiency and effectiveness, while mitigating risk and optimizing results through the use of practical techniques and templates. Course topics include: Introduction to the basics of the efficiency and effectiveness framework; Assessing time management ability--a self analysis; fundamentals of time management (using video “The New Time of Your Life”); planning and organizing daily activities based on business priority; communicating accomplishments to relevant stakeholders; and promoting sharing of learning with other associates.  In addition to receiving a course workbook, each participant receives ready-to-use templates–to enable immediate use and productivity when participants return to work.

Project Management EXECUTION
Reinforcing Effectiveness in Delivering Results

Effective EXECUTION of projects distinguishes excellence project deliveries and outcomes.  The purpose of this interactive workshop is to understand, and reinforce key factors which enable success in project execution. Project Plan Execution: Is the primary process for carrying out the project-plan—the vast majority of the project’s budget will be expanded in performing this process.  In this process, the project manager and the project management team must coordinate and direct the various technical and organizational interfaces that exist in the project.  The product of the project is created during this phase/process.
This workshop reinforces project management and business change interdependent skills through the following topics:

  • Understanding project management and business change management’s interdependent relationships. This includes transition “gates” that ensure mandatory deliverables and signoffs thus promoting a common language and way of working;
  • Establishing roles and responsibilities to ensure accountability at the appropriate levels; ensuring that work execution is aligned with Gallup Q12—for performance;
  • Understanding the concept of program management for the execution of projects; managing individual workload to focus on what matters most to the business.
